VIEW IN MY ROOM
In recent years I was very inspired by literary and philosophic works of western existentialists, particularly, Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Sartre. According to one of the main postulates of this young school of thought, to recognize oneself as an “existence”, the person should find oneself in “boundary situation” — for example, facing death. I’m close to the approach of deep emotional and spiritual dimension of a modern person, particularly, I’m attracted with an idea that the person conceives own essence during the entire life and is responsible for each act, done by him. I, in my turn, have dedicated my competition work to such important term in existentialism, as “FEAR”. It is not related with any specific life event of the specific individual, it is related with the person’s essence itself. I feel the approach absolutely genius, when “fear” has no negative meaning, but serves as some conductor and prompter! Just fear gives the person possibility to get out from mindless pleasure-seeking and to encourage him for actions, isn’t it what is so necessary? Being a master, working with porcelain, I’ve tried to express emotion of fear in this noble material, to depicture it. For me, emotion, presented at the canvas, takes a form and the viewer can enter into interaction with it and as if to possess with it.
