I'm a mid-career sculptor who lives and works in New Jersey, USA. I attended the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, and also had several apprenticeships there where I learned my craft. I moved to the East Coast to pursue a job at the Johnson Atelier, a well known fine art foundry. There I was able to improve my technical abilities and create many of my signature pieces. Since then I have worked for various area NJ/NY artists and studios as a technician while also continuing to build my own portfolio. Artists Statement: Throughout my career I have enjoyed pairing the clever engineering skills of Man with those of Nature. These juxtapositions have always complemented rather than opposed one another. I have striven to find the natural beauty inherent in each form and reveal a relationship which in hindsight seems almost obvious in each example. I have primarily utilized the principles of Surrealism as well as Magical Realism as the platform for these expressions. I have tried to apply a type of humor that I would categorize as cosmic and slightly oblique in nature. Bernardo
