About The Artwork

Monsieur Blue - He is a member of a series. When using public transport I love watching people and trying to find the individual in the crowd. As much as we ourselves play a different role in the morning, different at noon, and in the evening, these glass faces change. It shows as many faces as many kinds of lights he meets. Technical info: The 'inner' face was carved from heat-resistant material (a mixture of plaster), with quick movements - until it became hard. This was surrounded by a 'tube' where the glass could melt in. When the glass cooled in the kiln, the ' carved-face-material' was removed (destroyed) - thus this figure cannot be repeated. After polishing the glass, I have signed the bottom as 'MZSL 2020'. Weight: 2165 g

Zsuzsa Lili MOLNÁR was born in 1982 in Budapest (Hungary/Europe) and while she always felt happy when she was doing arts, she graduated as an economist - in the first round. She joined Nokia’s finance department in 2006 and spent 6.5 years there. In 2011 she obtained a diploma in metalworking and started making jewelry as a hobby. Some jewelry included fused glass instead of gemstones. As she approached the age of 30, it became bothering that her job (her life) was not a real challenge/joy. She felt angry with her parents for ending up in this well-paid, secure, but grey life. Because she wanted to take responsibility and did not want to blame her parents for not even trying the 'art-life', she contacted the company’s psychologist to help her recover from the situation. After unconsciously portraying her life as an almost charred tree with a cut-off trunk in a test, it became clear that she needed to move on. In 2012 fall, the employee ended. By this time, glass had become the ‘new love’, and she has started to make glass jewelry. To gather more technical knowledge, in 2015, a 1-year-long glass course at the Szimultán School of Art helped her gain admission to the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts. In 2019 she -at the age of 36 has graduated as a glass designer. The reason why this is emphasized is that she hopes to inspire people to at least try following their dreams. As her life changed when she started to attend psychologist and learn more about feelings-emotions, this and the 'human' itself plays a central role in her arts. Her favorite technique is glass casting (kiln-casting), as she found this the most challenging and interesting methods full of surprises and learning opportunities. The most complicated solutions contain an 'inner shape' which is only visible when the glass that has surrounded it is polished. (The more organic the 'outer shape' is, the more time is spent polishing the glass.)
