My sculpture exists on a threshold between physical and spatial balance, curating bodies of work that draw out a questioning of space, relationship, and meaning. I like to think of my sculptures as leaning into (the gallery) space, as if leaning on us, and yet both artwork and viewer can exist comfortably within the curated environment. The physical make-up of the structures also creates a curious space for doubt. They introduce an idea of wavering hesitancy as a space to generate uncertainty, that can tease the mind, and keep the thinking going. The objects and materials aren’t new or unusual, the concrete, straps, fixings, and brackets are all commonplace in the makeup of our contemporary environment, however, they are handled with a new focus to give them an uncomplicated and distinctive value in their new situation.
