Loubouton Collection 2014 - Buttoned mirror As the name suggests, there is a play on Pole Nord (North Pole) and Or (gold). At first glance this piece has a very bourgeois beauty. The use of vintage, high quality white toned buttons with sparse use of gold buttons represents not only the fragility and beauty of the North Pole but the possibility of undiscovered energy in the arctic. With climate change, this part of the world, so long fairy tailed is now a focus point and dispute between neighboring countries for energy and shipping lanes. Intrinsically the North Pole inspires the idea of iced beauty, of pure whiteness, Pole d’Or tries in its play of varying white and gold buttons, to capture this fragility and controversy.
