About The Artwork

This art doll sculpture is a part of my series of half dolls inspired by Shibari, Japanese art of bondage. I was influenced by its aesthetics, the beauty and sensuality of restrained body and intricate tying patterns that shibari involves. Simultaneously, I thought about possible spiritual meaning of it, where corporal restriction and stillness initiates the process of finding/unleashing the power within. It's particularly applicable to dolls as I see them: seemingly motionless and silent, they hold hypnotic power. Height - 25cm / 10 inch with base; Material - hand-sculpted from Fimo Professional Doll Art Clay, painted with watercolors and soft pastels and sealed with matte satin varnish; Accessories – corset, bracers and choker made of eco leather, hand sewn lace lingerie and satin garters, chain necklace, pink rope; 2020; The piece is sold.
