About The Artwork

Ocean of Emptiness is a non-narrative, viscerally moving painting. The scene is picturing a universal quest, by playing with an icon, the heart. Viewers are invited to reach « Love » in a concealed world, hidden by seven mountains and seven seas, in the middle of the Ocean of Emptiness and focus to the essence of human relationship. Jacques Tableaux is questioning in this piece the meaning of a strong symbol overloaded in a digital landscape.

Born 1977 in East Berlin, has been lucky to grow up in different political systems, questioning the perpetuate of one ever since. During the wild era of post-communism Berlin in the mid 90’s, he reborn in legendary clubs like Tresor and Ewerk. Shortly after, he played an important role founding the new Techno Label Bpitch-Control, as he created all covert artworks, soon there after becoming a Berlin figure head. Honza co-founded Pfadfinderei, in November of 1998. A studio aiming to reflect the new era in visual arts. Pathfinder stood for strictly vector artworks. All this attention attracted a big studio and they were brought on for on air designs for MTV Europe’s daily show, “MtvUrban.“ in 2000. The unorthodox production methods of Pfadfinderei gained the attention of the scene and he quickly became part of the Berlin visual scene. Right at the zeigeist of new democratization in production equipment, Honza and his fellow artist moved into audiovisual performances and became a steady factor within the European VJ culture. As a logical step of his Berlin techno roots, Honza and his collective founded a weekly IDM club night, called „Lab.Style“ at Berlin clubs Kurvenstar and WMF, which has brought him worldwide recognition within the music and design scene. As a result of his constant print-design output, the numerous Vj performances in clubs and festivals for key techno figures, such as Ellen Allien or Jeff Mills, a Residency in Tokyo as well as exhibitions in Paris and New York, the name Pfadfinderei became branded for „first class digital shit“ circa 2004. Finally a cutting edge german figure in the international scene of print and multimedia performances. Honza has collaborated with artist such as Radiohead, Lenny Kravitz, The Rolling Stones, Brian Eno, Max Richter, Moderat, Modeselektor and many more. His work has been presented several times at Berlin Techno Cathedral Berghain, Centre Pompidou Paris, or Berliner Festpiele and countless club-culture related locations.
