I have had a long career as a yacht Captain running large motor yachts and sailing yachts worldwide. I dabble in art but my father, Ray Wallace, was a very accomplished maritime artist and marine architect. Ray's creations included oils, watercolors, and pen & ink. He was part of the original team at Disneyland in Anaheim, California in 1956 and beyond. He is known, among other accomplishments, as the designer of the replica full-rigged sailing ship "Columbia" which still sails the Rivers of America at Disneyland. My intention is to present Ray's art here on Saatchi. Most works were created in the 30's and 40's, but I will show later drawings and sketches as well. Ray was last seen sailing over the horizon in 1999.
As a professional mariner, my education many years ago was in Maritime Schools in Southern California.
My father Ray never went to college nor took any art lessons at all. He was totally self-taught, and simply was one of those rare individuals who had a gift to draw and paint.
