About Rick Ruark

Born in Columbus, Ohio, I am a self-taught, Pittsburgh contemporary acrylics painter.

I began painting after my move to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1982. The 1980s brought about a change in art, design and architecture and no place was it more evident than in Miami. I was so inspired by it all, I wanted to be part of it. Miami's diversity in the arts led to my need to be diverse in my varied styles of painting.

While committing to an individual style of painting, I find that for me, that can lead to boredom. The process of creating should be as fun and enjoyable as collecting it or it will be evident in the final piece.

Over the years, I have shown my art at various venues in FL, PA, CA, MI and other locations nationwide.

I am currently recovering from a double organ transplant. As a result, you’ll notice that I’ve decreased the cost of many of my pieces in order to defray my huge post-op costs.
