Maria Ricossa

I am an actor and photographer living in Toronto. As an actor I have spent a lifetime watching and observing people with the hope of recreating truthful behavior onstage or in front of a camera. As a photographer my interest in the street evolved over several years when I became endlessly fascinated with capturing private moments when people were going about their lives, unaware of being photographed. These small moments of behavior when we think no one is watching are the ones that reveal character. When I go out with my camera, I look at people moving through their day. From one moment to the next I want to capture the essence of an ordinary life happening in public.
