Saliha Cig

Based in Turkey, she creates each piece entirely by hand in her studio, using underglaze techniques, natural pigments, and historically rooted patterns. Her practice is grounded in years of research into early Ottoman design, especially the Babanakkaş, Kara Memi, and classical İznik traditions. With this foundation, she produces original compositions that respect the discipline and spiritual harmony of traditional Islamic art while offering a fresh, modern interpretation.

As an experienced instructor, Saliha has guided many students in the fields of çini and illumination, emphasizing not only technique but also the cultural, architectural, and symbolic depth behind each motif. Her artistic philosophy is built on the belief that every ornament carries an inner rhythm, a story, and an emotional resonance shaped by centuries of artistic heritage.
