Sandra Stanionyte is a Lithuanian-born multidisciplinary artist. She graduated from Fine Art Contemporary Art Practice, at Royal College of Art (2016) and Design, Inter-architecture at BA(Hons) at Gerrit Rietveld Academy (2013), studied at Vilnius Academy of Arts (2008-2011). She is a recipient of Individual Artist Grant from Lithuanian Council for Culture, Villiers David Art&Travel Award 2015, Kooshk Artist Residency Award (Kara 2015), Iran, and Royal College of Art Fine Art Bursary. Sandra has presented her work in numerous countries in Europe, The Middle East, and Asia.
Sandra Stanionyte's works range from architecture, installation, performance art, and painting. As Stanionytė works with multiple disciplines, she does not simply separate them more so she fuses them. As it can be seen in her paintings – they pulsate with physical expression, strokes create performance-like energy and a vast array of gestural meanings. In some cases, she implements words into her canvases to create a new layer of meaning, new keys in trying to decipher her works.
