ALEX SAVART, also known as Alexey Smirnov, is a contemporary artist whose work combines elements of fine art and contemporary art. He creates amazing works of art that are aesthetically pleasing and captivating with their hidden meanings and madness.
Although all art has its origins in cave paintings, it evolves and takes on different forms and styles. Oil painting is one of the most popular art forms where the artist strives to capture the beauty and realism of the subject on canvas. However, over time, artists began to experiment with different materials and techniques, adding textures, collages, and transforming real objects into their works. Alexey Smirnov, having also gone through this evolutionary path and having professional experience working with polymer materials, applied his knowledge to painting. His paintings acquired a new sound, airiness and originality. He developed his own unique style and volumetric technique.
He dates the beginning of his artistic activity to his school years, when he attended a drawing club led by Osip Abramovich Sidlin, a student of Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin himself, the founder of Leningrad nonconformism. Works by Alexey Smirnov are in private collections of collectors in Russia, Finland, Sweden, France, Italy, Canada and China, in the collections of famous galleries in St. Petersburg. Some works have become winners at international competitions and have certificates of honor and medals.
