Sirpa Cowell

I am a multi disciplinary artist/designer and l look at the world with visual curiosity, finding beauty in everything. Through my work I express what I cannot say in words.

I am born and raised in Tampere, Finland, until I moved to the USA for 20 years with my American husband. I currently live in Finland.

After a successful international career in product / textile / clothing design, I am focusing now in fine art. In addition to a design degree in Finland, I have had many courses and workshops throughout my life in traditional painting, photography and printmaking.

I am passionate about Scandinavian folk art, architecture, thoughtful design, simplicity, repeating patterns, colors, combinations and wild and ever changing nature. My signature element is joy, and I love to play in the edge of balance / unbalance. I paint with acrylics with bold colors, and my paintings are influenced by my textile design career. My photographs are studies of different subjects in nature.

Degree in Fashion design, and multiple courses in Painting, Photography and Printmaking.
