About Stephen Beer

1962 i was born. 1967 my father built a darkroom under the stairs where we produced b&w photographs. 1979 i began making experimental 8mm films, influenced by Star Wars, Derek Jarman, Elliott Bristow and Kenneth Anger. 1991 Graphic Design & Photography at Falmouth School of Art. 1996 i met Jo and began experimenting again. 2020 the end of before.

2013 "The Saltash Ferryman" public sculpture unveiled. A group collaboration, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, to conserve the history of the ferry that crossed the River Tamar at Saltash for over 900 years.

1997 "Split" (8mm experimental film) screened at Start Moving Image Festival, UK.
1996 "My Imaginary Friend" (15 min drama) screened at Start Moving Image Festival, UK.
1994 Camera operator on AIDS Awareness video for The Eddystone Group, UK.
1993 "Room 2" & "Paris '92" experimental films screened at Start Moving Image Festival, UK.
1989 "Motorbeats" promotional music video completed with Kayla Parker and Stuart Moore (of Sundog Media).
1984 "Elephant Fayre1984" Super 8mm experimental documentary shown locally.
1980 "Space Glook" and "Guardian" films completed and shown locally. Begin documenting ordinary life on Super 8mm film.
1979 first 8mm film, "A UFO Experience", with school friends Andrew Tonkin and Kevin Kernick (aka Chris Varian). Shown at end of term review, Saltash Comprehensive School.
