Steve Rosenzweig

I am a full-time painter and sculptor living in upstate New York. I was born and raised in River Vale, NJ, USA. I attended art school at SUNY Purchase where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking, studying under Antonio Frasconi, Scott Richter, Margot Lovejoy and Murray Zimilies. After school, I moved to NYC, and one of my first jobs was as a studio assistant for world-renowned artist Red Grooms. The creative freedom and experimentation I witnessed and experienced while working at Grooms' studio made a lasting impression energizing my attitude towards making art and approaching any creative project or challenge. While continuing my work as an independent artist, I simultaneously launched into a career as a Production Designer in the film and television business. There, I designed films such as "The Wedding Banquet" and "Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle", and art directed a wide variety of TV advertising and programming. After 20 years in the film business I made the move to a more tranquil life in upstate New York, devoting myself full-time to creating my own artwork.
