I am passionate about the ocean. I love to paint water in all its aspects and I'm inspired to share my love for the natural world, both in the UK and in the Caribbean. I paint in blocky gestural acrylics, flowing watercolours, or a combination of the two. I love atmospheric, ambiguous passages of texture and light and strive to say more by doing less. I give talks and demos to art clubs and tutor two groups locally in Essex.
Having gained a science degree in Nottingham, UK, I embarked on my first career in Jamaica, teaching scuba diving, running a scuba resort business, involved in reef protection and education. After switching to art, I was lucky to have Jannette Eyles, an RA trained sculptor and painter, as a mentor, and I worked out of her studio for nine months, prior to my first solo exhibition in 1997.
