Filip Svehla, a graduate from the painting studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, belongs to the youngest generation of Czech contemporary artists. At first glance, Filip Svehla's paintings attract attention mainly for their colors. His current style did not fully develop until after graduation, when his one-year stay in Valencia played a key role in that development. The lighting conditions, together with the scenery of the industrial district in which he lived during his Spanish sojourn, caused a fundamental evolution of his artistic output. His effort to capture the essence of shape thus resulted in abstract canvases characterized by bold use of color, precision of composition, and a balance between expressiveness and order. Svehla's art explores themes of urban landscapes, sensory experiences, and the transformative power of color. He has exhibited internationally and continues to push the boundaries of his artistic practice.
