Sylvia Barrero

Born in Bogotá, Colombia (1983). Since childhood, she shows interest in the arts and as a teenager she starts to work on representational sculpture and painting.


My paintings are created to convey the essence of nature. I rely on our desires for beauty and balance which is what I establish through the use of color, texture and harmony in each of my paintings. I begin my work by applying color layers fluently, letting each image emerge and then focus on details which bring it to live. I think of my work as a pause from our busy lives, engaging the viewer by creating an inner sense of order which can shift its emotional state.

In 2008 she receives her degree as an Industrial Designer with a minor in Textile Design. Eventually she decides to retake her career as an artist and gradually, she changes her painting style to a more colorful and expressive one.

Her work has been exhibited in Bogotá, Miami and London. She has painted live in different cities of Colombia and her paintings fill with color dozens of homes in different countries
