Over the years my work has often changed. At some point what you are working on comes to an end and then you have to continue with finding a new perspective. That can be very annoying because you were in a certain rhythm and that stops resolutely. However, it also leads to experimentation which in turn can lead to new insights. Shifting between ideas and techniques I try to keep the process fresh and challenging for myself.

Theo Overgaauw is a contemporary artist whose works appear in private collections national and international.
Born in The Hague, the Netherlands, Theo started drawing from an early age using mainly oil pastels on anything that was available. Not even wallpaper was save. His parents didn’t mind as long as he only drew on the wallpaper of his own room. At school, from a certain age, they had a weekly art class where they worked with watercolours. After graduation, Theo ,went to the Vrije Academie where abstract work was the main thing, however Theo preferred to work figuratively when he started. He was invited to a week-long workshop given by Jörg Immendorff at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam.
Today Theo lives and works in Sellingen, Groningen, the Netherlands.
