About Me
Vacamarquetry is a fine art studio dedicated to the ancient craft of marquetry—hand-cut wood mosaics made from natural veneers. Founded by Armenian artist V. Sarksyan and now based in Tuscany, Italy, the studio creates exclusive wall portraits from hundreds of precisely shaped wooden fragments. Each piece is one of a kind, rich in story and craftsmanship, meant to be passed down as a timeless heirloom.
Entirely self-taught, I was inspired and guided by my uncle. Despite working in factories and facing numerous hardships, art became my refuge and my strength. Over the years, I’ve launched five businesses—two successful and left behind, three failed but filled with lessons that shaped me into who I am today. I never gave up.
Relocating to Italy brought clarity and renewal. Here, I’ve embraced marquetry as my primary artistic expression—an ancient and noble craft that I treat with reverence. Each of my artworks is crafted from natural wood pieces, cut and placed one by one with precision. Every piece is unique and unrepeatable, both technically and spiritually.
