About Vera Dg

Official member of the Ukrainian Pavilion of the 58th Venice Biennale • Independent visual artist • Modern calligrapher • Portraitist • Figurative painter • Speaker of I’M Design Conference

Vera was born in Ukraine in 1983 and graduated from the most well-known Art Academy in Ukraine – The Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. Last two years Vera studied calligraphy in Europe and Istanbul, and as a result, she combined in her artworks two different styles and approaches – European and Asian.
Since 2016 Vera has been living and working in Istanbul, Turkey.

In 2016 Vera started a solo career. The focus on the development of Calligraffiti style, the combination of graffiti and calligraphy, also Vera connects it with figurative painting and 3D laser-cut design.

Since 2019 Vera works with Augmented Reality Art and VR, WebXR

Education

Education:

2009 - Vera DG graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts (Ukraine), the Department of Fine Arts, a specialty of mural painting and architectural decoration (with honors degree)

Events

Artist Ambassador, Official member of the Ukrainian Pavilion of the 58th Venice Biennale, participant of the curatorial project under the supervision of the Open Group THE SHADOW OF DREAM CAST UPON GIARDINI DELLA BIENNALE

The most striking project Vera has participated in was a wall painting in one of the central parks of Mexico City (2015) in collaboration with Mexican scouts.

The theme of the murals was symbolism associated with the Yolixtly scouts. The symbol of Mexican scouts St. Jorge was the central figure of one of the murals. The equivalent of St. Jorge in Ukrainian culture is St. Yura, and in Summer 2016, I collaborated with a group of Ukrainian schoolchildren on a painting of St. Yura for the educational camp DEC in the Carpathians.

Presently Vera is running event Istanbul Drawing Day #istanbuldrawingday

The main goal is to unite people from different nationalities, age, religion, social status under a flag of Fine Art.
