Victoria Jane Wilson is an Australian artist who creates art as a transference of energy. Often working on several large and medium scale pieces at a time, immersing herself in the canvas and room really means she embodies Jackson Pollock's quote "on the floor I am more at ease. I feel nearer, more part of the painting, since this way I can walk around it, work from the four sides and literally be in the painting".
Victoria grew up, studied and started her creative career in Sydney before travelling and living overseas in New York and London as a creative director in Experiential Design. The hustle and bustle of a faced paced design career in America eventually led her back to her roots and she studied with Frank O’Cain at the Art Student's League of New York.
Inspiration comes from life’s events... The frenetic whirlwind of living in New York City. The rollercoaster of family tragedy. The grief of losing a family home in a disaster. The joy of becoming a mother and welcoming a new soul into the world. The freedom of channelling her children's innocent lack of inhibition. Painting has become a way of life for her, capturing the state and emotion of a moment in the strokes of the brush.
