Artist Duo Weimer Weber

The artist duo Weimer & Weber enlivened with his painting the historical practice, but subverts it at the same time. His interest lies in the picturesque tradition and the interpretation and abstraction methods from which artists of all epochs were guided. Various painterly styles and traditions are mixed furiously, so techniques of oil painting of past centuries are used, although the subjects of her paintings contradict this academic approach. They celebrate the power of color and the decorative splendor, hysterical theater and grotesquely exaggerated figures but spoil the sensual pleasure of the beautiful surface.

The fact that they work as a team on their images raises the important question in this time of authorship, authenticity and originality. The images of Weimer & Weber are often so full that they not only test the capacity of the storage medium painting, but also of almost overwhelmed recipient.
However, Weimer & Weber are always in search of organizing principles that create an inner tension in the image and create fantastic imagery.
