Artist statement: I was once told my work is of nothing. I'll assume this was an insult. I thought it a compliment. The gentleman had viewed my work for what it is. To some, a study of the mundane, for me, theatre captured, the beautiful procession of human activity and life repeated in the form of a place or being. The everyday.
I'm inspired by narratives that exist without conscious thought or planning. They simply happen. I want the viewer to read the photo, understand and interpret the world contained within it, and then enjoy the emotional charge generated.
Influenced and admire the works of Richard Misrach, Philip-Lorca diCorica, Gregory Crewdson, Stephen Shore, William Eggleston and Jeff Wall.
Have yet to secure artist representation.
Attended Medway School of Art & Design and the Bournemouth & Pool College of Art & Design.
