Yvette Lyons

Hello, thanks for visiting my art page here at Saatchi Art. I was born an artist. I have been painting since 6th grade when one of my paintings were hung in our school assembly. My life has taken me on a path of self discovery and healing by combining art and psychology. Today I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a Specialty in Expressive Arts Therapy. As a result, I have learnt that my art and my creative process is best when I move out of my own way and allow the art to flow through me as opposed to trying to 'make it happen'. I love the process of beginning all my paintings with no goal in mind, making random marks and turning the canvas until something begins to emerge, the I am able to go with that and allow the art to speak to me. I fall in love with each of my paintings. I live with them in my full sight for months sometimes before I am willing to let them go and release them to the world. It is a beautiful relationship I have with my art and painting. It brings me much joy and I hope my art brings joy to others.

I have a Ph.D. in Expressive Arts Therapy. I have worked extensively with the use of art for healing with clients. I have studied at the High School of Art and Design in NYC. I have also studied with many great artists such as, Glenn Vilppu, Jeff Watts, Flora Bowley, Tracy Verdugo, Reed Caldwell. I have studied at the Athenaeum, in La Jolla, CA. My art is eclectic and always comes from a combination of all my different teachers as well as my life experience.
