Zita Nikoletta Verbényi

Zita loves exploring textures, vivid colours, various depths, and movements; her characteristic works are dynamic compositions of thick layers of paint (heavy oil impasto). Although Zita confronts empty canvases instinctively, without any prior planning, she mainly receives inspiration from waves, desert sand, and Arabic calligraphy; all depicting the aftermaths of dynamic movements.

Based in London, Zita works overlooking the Thames, hearing and observing the waves in their various colours and movements; from catching the first rays of sunshine to their late-night sparkles. She combines action-painting and colour-field abstract expressionist styles in her oil creations. Zita paints as a form of meditation.

Born and raised in Budapest, Zita is a hyperpolyglot and also lived in Rome and Barcelona before moving to London in 2012. She wrote her MA diploma in Comparative Aesthetics in Italian and is currently finalising the 1st PhD in family legacies. An interdisciplinary study on family business legacy interpretations, bringing in Aesthetics, Philosophy, and Cultural Anthropology to enrich Family Business Studies. Zita’s objective is to elicit the importance of classical works of art and how these effectively complement business-related and financial studies via the obvious resonance points.
