“I dream my-self tiny to see my artworks at a monumental scale, I do this until I can create them larger.”- Christopher H Cox

The mediums I primarily work with are wood and composites due to their cost effectiveness and my boat building background. I am first a sculptor, secondly a painter. I am a maquette maker. Most of my pieces I design to one day build at a much larger scale. For me to consider something I create “art” it has to bring me excitement and cause me uncontrollable joy when I look at it.

It was around the age of 26 that I re-awoke to art. At the time, I was focused on designing inventions in my spare time and was self-employed restoring boats. I was offered a temp job helping a custom fabrication shop move buildings, and there, the art of Lichtenstein, Haring and others in large scale, was thrown in my face and suddenly I remembered “hey this used to be me, I was an artist, what happened to that Chris?”

I was thrown into what I’ll call for my privacy’s sake, a manic love state. When I am in this state I feel a combination of fear of being known and as though I am working towards my destiny, as if my story will be told as long as I create art, and my life will mean something, I’ll live...
