Exploiting the manner in which we typically consume art, images are extracted from a variety of media and manipulated to explore the hidden narrative. The seduction of advertising feeds real life reckonings blurring the two in an arena where person and persona overlap. In some works identity is deliberately withheld to invite the viewer into the story changing the experience from one of admiration to that of personal inquiry. In every instance desire is acknowledged through the presentation of pretty things. Further examination into the disposition of wanting leads the artist to contemplate sources of fulfillment. The window at Chartres, as seen in the painting Found, leads the artist to consider religion as a vehicle towards self actualization. Contentment remains the illusive subject where the act of attaining this state can be seen to drive the artist’s work.
