Emma is a mum, counsellor, practitioner in the disability sector, and small business owner. She has been an artist since she was very young and creativity runs through everything she does.
When Emma connects with a place, it becomes part of her. She has had the opportunity to work in remote Australia, including Tennant Creek in Central Australia, and the impact of the landscape, people, and experience will never leave her. She makes sense of it and expresses it through her paintings. They become about more than the physical landscape, but the spiritual and emotional connections that landscapes and places can represent to us.
In her studio, Emma takes an intuitive and exploratory approach to painting. She finds that the best work comes from letting herself be guided by the materials and her instincts, rather than trying to force the work to conform to a preconceived idea. Staying open and receptive to the unexpected directions that a painting takes means that Emma can tap into a sense of flow and spontaneity that is very creatively rewarding.
Emma completed her Degree in Visual Arts Education, at the Australian Catholic University in 1991.
In 2015, Emma was part of a group exhibition at Braemar Gallery in NSW called 'Chasing the Light".
In 2017, Emma exhibited at Braemar Gallery, as part of the “In our Backyard” exhibition.
