Ricardo Róis

Born in 1977.
Painter, sculptor and photographer.

I'm interested in life. I'm interested in the life people lead, in how we present ourselves, how an individual codes himself and the tools he or she uses to project whatever ideas they are trying to communicate. I'm interested in enforced and unconscious societal norms that guide and restrict us in the everyday through the prism of the contemporary western society that has done such a good job of exporting itself around the globe. The contradictions, the absurdity, the sublime and the ridiculous, the powerful and powerless. And lastly I'm interested in painting, in a form of expression that we as a species have been working with since before the time we could write. I'm interested in exploring it, in experimenting with it and hopefully adding something of some relevance to this artistic form.
