Personal encounters and places at the end of land are the starting point for many of the paintings, they form an emotive memory or a feeling that has a strong resonance and doesn’t go away. The painting process leads to new ideas and shows you connections that you hadn’t realised were there before.
Alan's paintings are held in numerous private collections in the UK and internationally. He is a director at Leeds Sculpture Workshop, a co-curator for Gallery 16, a pop up gallery and a visiting lecturer at the University of Leeds.
