About Amela Cikota

Art is a means of exploration and experimentation. Art is my passion as well as art education and I am thankful that I am able to pursue both by working as an elementary art teacher and an artist. I enjoy working with a wide variety of color, texture, and transparencies to create expressive landscapes. Nature has always been my number one inspiration and motive when creating artwork. My color choices are vibrant and diverse, creating the abstraction and imagination in the paintings.

As an art teacher, I am able to see my students ideas and stories on paper. Their ideas inspire me everyday and bring me so much happiness. The creativity in a child's imagination is so vast and I believe that adults forget how to think like a child. So, working with kids really brings back some of that creative imagination. For three years, I worked as an artist assistant for Alicia LaChance. I was able to learn so much from the studio and always left inspired by her artwork.
