Although I have always had a passion for art, I only got as far as doing the foundation course, which I completed in 1980 in Canterbury. This is, at least partly, due to my having had Asperger's all my life. Which made college life very difficult for me. However, in the last few years, I have had more time to dedicate to my art. I contributed to an exhibition in 2017 at County Hall, in Maidstone, and another at Canterbury University last year. My favourite artists are Mogdigliani and Georgia O'Keeffe. Although, I am not sure how much this reflects in my work. I use mostly oils, pastels and ink. I like to do people and sketch scenes. I try to devolpe my own style, by finding different ways to portray people in Pastel and charcoal, focusing mainly on the textures and subtle tones. I have an obsession with doing people, particularly their faces. I think this may be something to do with my having Aspergers, which causes me to avoid eye contact. When I paint/draw, I am free to look and really examine the human face.
