Paul Slavin is a self taught artist, born in Bristol and currently living in Somerset, Paul started out drawing portraits (of people) but his lifelong love of wildlife and animals inevitably led him to wildlife art. After a long hiatus from art. having dropped out of art college after a couple of months ("You can only take so many collages!") Paul was inspired to pick up a pencil again after seeing some of the incredible images created by various artists on the internet. Paul's first wildlife art piece Red Ruffed Lemur was tentatively entered into the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the year award and was short listed and eventually selected as 'Peoples Choice' winner 2009. Paul's style of wildlife art is incredibly detailed with pictures taking up to and over 150 hours for a single piece of work. "While there are many incredibly talented artists out there, I wanted to attempt to create something that looked as good from across the room as it does with your nose pressed against the picture"
