About The Artwork

In the wake of time…. Past, present, future are stratified in the luminous wake of a comet… …Just as archaeology explores the “soil archives”, the work of Pascal Stutz opens the doors of Time and a true archaeology of memory, of ours, but also of the universe…. B. Schnitzler Chief Curator of the Archaeological Museum of Strasbourg

A world in miniature [...] Pascal Stutz seems to have created a world to house his dreams. A world in miniature. The volumes are defined, the colors are deep. A symbolism reminding of Saint Exupery's work emerges from his images [...] [...]In the poetry of the Alsatian artist, almost all the dreams are held by a thread. A twisted string just about to untangle organises the fragility of the forms which, like clouds blown away by the wind, can change at any time. (Trees) His metaphorical language does not refer to the human form. The human being is only alluded to, assimilated to the elements of nature: dans l'arbre de pluie est mon abri [...] [...] The act of writing is integral to his work, like a graphic murmur. His images come out of a text and the text out of the images. Sometimes the text is deliberately blurred and unreadable. Some other times it is cursory, and imperative, when the word is stenciled like the message on the poster: (Stars). The colors from magic chromatic fields intensifying or fading depending on the subject. Clearly, the artist's obsession is to build shelters for his dreams.
