My interest lies not so much in the crafting of a narrative but in the discovery of it through the use of figurative as well as abstract elements. Through my work I seek to explore the intricacies of our relationship to the human body while investigating the both the illusory picture space of the canvas as well as process of image construction. I am always searching and experimenting with and within my art. I like to let the materials nudge me along whichever path they seem to be carving. It is this process that allows me to free the image from the constraints of traditional narrative. By emphasizing the peculiarities of image construction I hope that each viewer will discover a more personalized and perhaps more meaningful narrative then what a single author may provide. It is my hope that this confrontation between established, fixed narratives and personal, porous narratives allows each viewer to gain a more intimate relationship with images and art.
