Pastels draws both from my painting and drawing skills. I am painting with my hands.
In the first layers I focused on the color composition only adding the details at the end, but using as much time adding the few lines as putting on the larger color surfaces.
I tape my watercolor paper onto a board and get this clean border around my painting.
I like this exchange between larger color surfaces and lines.
Smaller scribbles and lines with contrasting colors bring life to the surface.

Art Description

Drawing: Conte, Pastel on Paper.

I have a small stream in my garden, the morning-sun light up the pebbles and bring fort the colors inspiring my work and making the coffee break more enjoyable. I worked and re-worked this a few times, working on the composition and bringing forth some of the pebbles.
I use Soft pastels on Fabriano 300g watercolor paper.
