The Summer Table Drawing

I was highly inspired by typical summer weekend barbecues and cookouts, as well as the patriotic holiday of the 4th of July. I wanted to capture the bright colors of summer gatherings and cuisine served. Colored pencil made it possible for me to "bring the piece to life" and incorporate details/textures. I hope the viewer can relate to warm-weather gatherings with family and friends, while feeling a sense of warmth and playfulness. I enjoyed using a realistic style to create this piece so I could accentuate the details of the corn, burger, etc. and wanted to chose subject matter that captures the "fun in the sun" vibe of summer.
