Inna Skidan was born in Ukraine. She now lives in the United States. The move has understandably affected her painting, mostly by bringing out the culture of the country where she was born, which she brought with her. Her works are full of intense light. This is characteristic of Ukrainian culture. Constant experiments can be seen in her work; it moves and changes. Sometimes work is just an abstraction, and sometimes her work contains live characters that she captures in a painting or that surround it. Her pictures are express what she is going through moving to a new country and what excites and inspires her every day. Colors are blended and interwoven, overlapping explosively and then sometimes falling gently to the floor if the voices become кsofter. Inna is keen on the ethnic art of her country. One form of this folk art is the traditional Ukrainian wedding ritual towel. уIn Ukrainian “towel” also means “road” and this road is to be the one that a couple follows in their lives. Therefore, the towels are a layering of the sacred amulets and charms that promise the couple a long and happy life. The Tree of Life, which shown on the sheets, is sometimes depicted in her works. The themes are the universal language, full of the sensitivity and strength that gives life and inspiration to many of her paintings.
