ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This drawing has been originally been inspired from the interior at Starbucks coffee shop. In an attempt to make the drawing more interesting I inserted a portrait into the window. This drawing is a combination of charcoal and pastel on 100% rag paper, and it is acid free. I hope the viewer will get a sense of light and inclusion to this lounge part of the coffee shop. As with all of my drawings, they are straight forward studies in an attempt to get my ideas down and assess the potential for more involved work, such as paintings.

I consider myself a regionalist painter. Similar in philosophy as Edward Hopper, Thomas Hart Benton and Andrew Wyeth. Instead of attaching themselves to a particular movement, they pushed their art into an individualist pursuit. About 35 years ago I started out to be a graphic designer. My tenure in that workforce was short lived and in retrospect I never liked design as much as fine arts. I have been painting on a daily basis now for around twenty years. I like the idea of being versatile with my skills, and I try not to limit myself to one particular subject matter. Having good drawing skills is important to me, and i believe it is an asset to all kinds of disciplines.
