About The Artwork

ANDREJ MRATINKOVIĆ: ICARUS'S Δ INVISIBLE WORLDS Art-poetry exhibition | Exhibition of paintings, prints, small sculptures & poetry 17th June - 1st July 2017 | Roblek's Hall, Žalec, Slovenia Photography by Žiga Kolšek | FOTO Koli About | Icarus's invisible worlds was Mratinković's sixth solo exhibition that took place in a 200-year-old hall in a small town in Slovenia. This was his biggest and most complex exhibition by so far. Visitors were able to see a conceptual installation of his paintings, prints, small sculptures and drawings connected in a meaningful way with his poems and hidden quotes. All this was set in the mystical atmosphere of the antique Roblek's Hall - a perfect interior for artist's works. "Perhaps I have always been interested in the secrets of the world and that my inclination towards mysterious, supernatural and mystical has already been there from my birth. In the visual sense, I have always been more focused on my own imagination, where I studied the bright and dark sides of me and discovered new, yet invisible images. It was always interesting for me to observe people when they meet with my artworks that they have never seen before ... and which until that moment, like many things in this world, were invisible to them." Andrej Mratinković was born in 1984 in a town Celje in Slovenia. He graduated at the Department of Fine Arts at University of Maribor in 2011. When he decided to study fine art, he quickly came to realize that his work will also be to deeply analyze all the components that will give him an artwork that he truly strive for; and for that he would need a lot of exploration, experimentation and experience. A turning point in his artistic development was the discovery of artworks by sculptor Mirsad Begić, who inspired him with his incredible work, personal mythology and introduced him to natural materials, especially "coffee". Mratinković's main fields of creativity are drawing, painting, small sculptures, digital art and graphic design. His art work is often linked with concepts like: imagination, primacy, archaism, mysteriousness, mysticism and poetics. /// Contact: amratinkovicdesign@gmail.com
