Agape Painting

This painting marks significant formal change in my work from last a few years. I created it in Sicily, where I recently found my second home. It became endless source of inspiration full of flamboyant natural powers, strong mythology and historical value. The area where we reside with my family is incredibly rich in terms of abundant nature, specially plants, herbs and flowers. There are also archeological sites with remnants of oldest settlements on the island. This includes Ancient Greek mosaics which flabbergasted me at the first look. The painting took over three months to make and it carries very serious message of unconditional love. Therefore I titled it "Agape" which in greek philosophy and terminology means the highest form of love on the scale of five different expressions for it. Dolphins are the messengers that came out of time. Their appearance is the same as it was at the time of Greeks as is their task: to deliver radiant beauty in which we recognize this world attached to cosmic game of unconditional love. Only painting is able to leave traces of a hand and manifest high degree of craftsmanship at the same time. It is medium which I truly love for its flexibility, possibility of slowness and challenge of its difficulty to overcome reality transforming into something completely new and unseen.
