For the greater portion of my life I was lost. Artistically, emotionally, and every now and then.. physically. Always treading on to some sort of far away future destination. That was until I learned that there is no end goal. There is no right direction, there is no path, there is no ‘will be’ there only ‘is’ and that progress is not always linear. It wasn’t until I stopping trying to make good, perfect even, art and started to just make art that I found my style. As reflected in my works, I am inspired by bright and bold colors, creativity and women. Learning that there is no ‘perfect’ motivated me to give portraits a second chance. Semi-abstract portraits embracing the power and beauty of femininity are my current focus. - I wish I could say I was an artist from the start. Growing up I would have never considered art an option. I wanted to be a lawyer. I looked at my sister who would design beautiful dresses in her notebooks or my brother drawing all sorts of different characters he created. I watched and wished I had that talent. It wasn’t until high school that I started creating pieces. After freshmen year and finishing my mandatory art courses, I was done with art for the next three years. Or at least that’s what I thought. The next year I would visit the art room but only as a visitor never a student. I wasn’t being graded and I wasn’t being told what to paint. That’s when I fell in love with art. When I had full artistic liberty with my pieces I created my best work. I began painting every day. They were pretty terrible but I knew I needed to continue. The next year I enrolled in every art elective I could fit into my schedule. By the end of my high school career I had taken all of the classes my school provided, some of them twice. I was even the ‘teachers assistant’ in a few classes. This was a position my school created specifically for myself who had taken these said classes too many times. The summer of 2016 I was awarded the Emerging Young Artist award from Goldens Artist Colors. I had my first exhibit in their Colorscape event. Since then I a have been a self employed artist painting for friends, family and community members.
