Document of Authenticity included. ‘Athena’ is part of the Chateau d’Arte series, a series of monumental paintings in which personal stories intertwine with old myths. Created in the tranquility of the corona pandemic, these are my painterly Grand Cru's that show a world full of visual adventure. Meet my family. My family is the center of my world. Jaap, my beloved, ensures that I can make my art. The three girls (Picasso Inspired) are vibrant and drag us to and through many adventures. The sons in law who have hooked up in our family and had to fight for their place, bring the male input around Jaap, who has always seen himself surrounded by beautiful and interesting women, but can now also share his male insights. This painting is part of the series of "mythological paintings" made during the indoor, sunny and isolated Corona time. It depicts the goddess Athena, symbolized by the little owl on the shoulder. It is also a self-portrait, I look a little critically, with narrowed eyes, into the world, but I feel surrounded by my family and feel the wisdom of the years, just as Athena also represents wisdom. It contains a symbol that symbolizes a part of my thinking world. Myself in a kind of cosmos, part of an infinitely greater whole. But always carried by my family.
