This work is inspired by the change of season and scenery, from summer in northern Europe to autumn, where the colors change from hues of green to more earthy colors. Tress move, leaves are falling, and there are conversations like whispers that prepare us for life indoors. There was a great movie called 'Autumn sonata' by Ingmar Bergman that is the far inspiration for this work. I had seen it several times in my early teenage years and this feel of whisper conversations and silences in such a scenery stayed with me. The painting is made with acrylic and oil paint. It is intense and dreamy at the same time. The wooden stretcher is blue; of course you only see that if you look at the back of the painting. The canvas is prepared in the studio with cotton and three layers of gesso. The work is ready to be placed on the wall. 'Autumn conversations' belongs to the series Humanize-the-Code which was presented in the summer of 2022 at Big Screen Plaza in New York City.

"In her paintings we see how a hyper sensitive person perceives the world" S. Kapnissi is a trained painter working on revealing the free true space that we all hide within and that gives purpose in life; just like the sunshine does and the warmth of a real home. "My paintings depict the intensity of life; bright colors or black and white, abstract or figurative, my images point at Life and at our humanity that we evoke through beauty." S. Kapnissi (Athens, 1966) studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University in Greece and at the Free Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague, the Netherlands; for a period as a NUFFIC grantee. She is founding member of the Gaidaro group which from 1999-2008 presented projects advocating for wide participation in the art practice and presentation. Painting is her main activity which often expands to engraving, textile, video and text. Website:
