From an early age I remember going down to the beach with my Father. On occasion when the incoming tides where particularly dangerous the coastguard would patrol along the length of the beach in order to warn people of the imminent danger the fast approaching tide posed. In the wake of his Land rover he left ruts in the wet sand that always intrigued me, as the further they went out the closer they grew, reminding me of train tracks (but more imperfect). This, along with other random reminders made for strong memories of that time and place. Painted on very high quality professionally made Gallery style canvas on cross braced frame. Painting attempts to convey the effect of sunset on a wet beach. I have given a translucency to the work in order to accentuate the mirroring effect the landscape displays in these conditions. Painting will come varnished and ready to hang with certificate of authenticity.

Simon Jones was born in Grimsby, England. Once the second largest fishing port of its kind in the world, Grimsby sits directly on the North East coast fringed by what is known as 'The Lincolnshire Wolds'. He studied Fine Art on a Foundation Course at Grimsby Art College back in the late 70's and went on to study at Degree Level at Kingston Polytechnic London and later at Hull University gaining a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art. He has lived and worked in Lincolnshire most of his life and feels a close connection with its unique landscape. "My passion is Oil Painting primarily my local Landscape (Lincolnshire Wolds). I have lived all my life in and around this landscape and use it as an inexhaustible and inspiring material for my painting. I have a deep love of Fine Art stretching back over 40 years now. Whenever I get the chance I take the opportunity to visit Art Exhibitions and Galleries both home and abroad. I endeavour to imbue my landscapes with mood and melancholy saturating the canvas with varying layers of paint in order to convey tone and texture in what I see. Remember: Look now while life lasts ...
