Title: Crystalline Outgrowth Medium: Acrylic on Canvas Size: Large (48" x 24") This piece is a further study into a fusion of styles that blends linear abstract designs with supremist style tones in a minimalistic, future inspired landscape. The concept was originally to create organic looking crystals that appeared like they would grow or had grown. This piece extends that and tries to show how the growth would lead to movement-- each outgrowth would be at an angle from the form it had before, jutting out toward that direction, erratic angles that can't curve but attain something closer to a curve through multiple, iterative, slices. Those outgrowths eventually give way to form and produce the crystal shapes.

Artist and Engineer In 2004, Michael graduated with degrees in computer science and mathematics and has held multiple positions in software and systems engineering and technical management. When he was in his 30s, just before COVID started, Michael had a few significant life events that changed his life, his priorities, and his future. He went through a divorce, found new romance, was sick and hospitalized for a few weeks twice. During the course of these events, Michael was able to find his footing and rediscover old interests, hobbies, and passions. Namely, it was time for him to get back into art and music. Michael was enrolled in college again but this time for Fine Arts, Visual Arts (and will be completing his degree in the Spring of 2024).
