ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In this dry pastel, I explore my romanticised interpretation of a digital nomad: a tribeless vagabond, travel hardened by a patchwork of experiences, indigenous to the new digital age. But is it such a novel idea? I wanted to create an identity that suggests being both new and ancient. On the surface, this nomadic lifestyle seems a novelty but in reality, has been a part of humanity for far longer than our present settled sedentary way of life.

Przemysław Korczyński, born 1974 in Krakow, Poland, immigrated to South Africa in the early 1980s. From his twenties, he painted African-themed realism, focusing on portraiture and wildlife in dry pastels. In his thirties, Przemysław became involved in producing illustrations for the video gaming industry. He later returned to Poland and decided to delve into figurative expressionism. Inspired by his digital arts career, he shifted his direction to explore more expressionistic and imaginative topics, moving away from reference-based work. He now focuses on lines and their dynamic movement and emotion. After years of exploring the external world, he aims to explore his inner mindscape.
