About The Artwork
I was in our city park in early spring and the leaves were bright green but the blossoms weren't quite open so I decided to paint this grouping of leaves. Suddenly it clouded up and got cold so I too a photo and finished it in the studio. Many of the leaves I made up as I was going, simply painting one leaf at a time without drawing them first. I just painted a leaf shape and went from there. Then I added the dewdrops. This painting was one of two of mine selected for inclusion in the North Light book, "AcrylicWorks 5: Bold Values," by Jamie Markle.

I am a painter, potter, phottographer and writer. I exhibit my work all across the United States and my work can be found in many public and private collections. I was an art teacher at the secondary level for 33 years and have been an adjunct professor of art for 15 years at Simpson College. I wrote a newspaper column for 29 years in addition to being avserious, practicing artist. Some of my work is based upon my travels while other work is created from my own surroundings. My studio is in Indianola, Iowa were I also enjoy creating beautiful flower gardens.
